Food & Alcohol Safety Certifications

Help your team stay compliant, confident, and certified. Our statewide training programs are designed to meet Iowa regulations and support food and alcohol safety in every corner of the hospitality industry.

ServSafe Certified Food Protection Manager

Iowa law requires every food service establishment to have a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) on staff. Our ServSafe certification courses fulfill that requirement.

Who Needs Certification?

  • New establishments (within 6 months of licensure)

  • Establishments cited for foodborne illness or health violations

  • Businesses whose certified manager has left

Course Overview:

  • 8-hour, in-person class with exam

  • Includes ServSafe Manager book, proctored test, and certificate

  • Cost:
    $160 Non-Members
    $110 IRA Members
    $85 Exam Only (no class)

ServSafe Alcohol Training

Protect your business and your guests. This 4-hour course teaches staff how to serve alcohol responsibly and recognize signs of intoxication.

What’s Included:

  • In-person training with course book and exam

  • 3-year certification

  • Taught by a certified educator and active bar owner

  • Only $10 thanks to grant funding

ServSafe Food Handler Program

The ServSafe Food Handler Program is an easy, affordable way to provide your staff with essential food safety knowledge. This online course is ideal for onboarding new employees and meeting basic food code expectations.

What to Expect:

  • Self-paced online training (60–90 minutes)

  • 40-question assessment (non-proctored, no time limit)

  • Immediate online certificate upon passing

  • Available in English and Spanish
