Tips on Tipping Laws, Restaurant Hospitality, October 2019
The simple act of tipping has become a serious legal concern for the restaurant and other hospitality industries. The Department of Labor has proposed some changes to tip law. Employers who have tipped employees should make every effort to understand and comply with the FLSA’s tipped employee rules—as they stand right now, and as they may be in the future, assuming this rule becomes final. There is also an opportunity for employers to make comment on the proposed law. The comment period deadline for this proposed rule is December 9, 2019. Read more from IRA member Dickinson Law here.
